In our 2025 e-blast series we’ve covered aspects of digital security and awareness that every business must make a priority in this new digital era. As much as a company or organization needs to focus on growing their brand and increasing profits, security is just as important. Gone are the days we may imagine of human “bad actors” at keyboards clicking away with malware and password hacking. We now face algorithms running non-stop at quantum processing speeds that can access your information while imitating actual human interactions.
Email “spam” and “phishing” are commonplace and before they were easy to spot (like early Terminators)…but now with A.I., you may see an email thread with your coworker’s name and email peppered throughout, making it look like an actual conversation that may have taken place. It’s imperative more than ever to be vigilant that who is contacting you is a partner, vendor, or otherwise someone you do business with.
Digital awareness is critical to keeping your business safe and prosperous in this next phase of the digital age: within your company email, website and social media platforms. This may even include SMS messaging if you regularly use texts for business. Your best defense is to check the sender origins on any “suspect” emails, maintain & routinely update your website, and instill good password practices by using at least twelve characters with letters, numbers, and symbols mixed in.
Your business is yours and should not be “fair game” to advanced hackers just because their tools for theft are outpacing industries’ security guardrails!
Password Game: Good or Bad?
Let’s compare two passwords: Password A:Joe123 and Password B:JoeS!01X^007
Using current brute force hacking methods, the average time estimates to hack each password would be:
Password A: 6 hours
Password B: 164 Million Years
